Anopheles Mosquito

responsible for causing Malaria, the most prevalent and devastating disease that still threatens over 40% of the world’s population, causing severe mortality, especially in children. Main species responsible for this disease are (Anopheles stephensi, Anopheles israelensis and Anopheles culifacies). Anopheles breeds in stagnant collections of clean water such as ponds, lakes, overhead reservoirs, underground tanks, etc. This Mosquito is active after dusk and is called the ‘midnight biter’.

Culex Mosquito

responsible for causing Filariasis, (by Culex quinquifasciatus) which causes fever and acute swelling of the lymph glands, a condition commonly known as ‘elephantiasis’. Culex breeds prolifically in stagnant collections of polluted water such as drains, cesspools, gutters, septic tanks, etc. in urban surroundings. It is the common house mosquito and a major nuisance after dusk, biting heavily, leading to sleepless nights. Culex Mosquitos are also responsible for causing Japanese Encephalitis (JE), a viral disease that has assumed epidemic proportions in rural areas with rice-growing fields where (Culex triteaniorhynchus and Culex vishnuoi) (Rice Paddy Mosquito) find ideal breeding grounds.

Aedes Mosquito

responsible for causing Dengue which has assumed epidemic proportions in urban areas where Aedes aegypti (Asian Tiger Mosquito) breed in close proximity to humans in man-made collections of clean water such as water coolers, pots, old tyres, cans, empty bottles, flower, vases, etc. Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a severe, often fatal disease that results in high fever, shock and acute haemorrhage. This Mosquito is a day biter with a characteristic sharp pain. Yellow fever is caused by Aedes albopictus and has similar symptoms to malaria and also induces vomiting, nausea and jaundice. The disease can be fatal.

Problems associated with Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are vectors for many dreaded diseases such as malaria, filariasis, dengue, yellow fever, encephalitis, etc.
The female Mosquito requires blood meals for development of her eggs and
hence only females bite warm-blooded animals including humans, while the males live on plant nectar.

What Cannon Pest Management can offer to control Mosquitoes

Cannon Pest Management uses Integrated Mosquito Management techniques to control various species of mosquitoes which begins with a thorough property inspection by a highly-trained pest control technician to locate and identify mosquitoes and the places they breed in and around your premises. Based on inspection findings they worked out proper Integrated Mosquito Management program which comprises of larvicidal treatment, adulticidal treatment and uses of various mosquito traps to kill adult mosquitoes.

Larvicide Treatment:

Mosquitoes lay their eggs inside the water and their larval and pupal stage lives inside the water. So Mosquito control is accomplished by searching out mosquito larvae in standing water and treating the water with suitable chemicals that kill the larvae. It is the most effective approach towards the control measures undertaken in Mosquito abatement program. All water collection areas natural/ artificial should be treated at regular intervals to minimize the mosquito larvae population.

Adulticidal treatment: indoor residual spray:

An Integrated Mosquito Management programme chemicals are required to be applied to kill adult mosquitoes. This is achieved by applying residual pesticides frequently indoor inside the houses so that the resting mosquitoes are controlled.

Adult control – outdoor application:

Fogging or misting: Thermal foggers/misters have been used to generate Fogs/wherein the pesticidal smoke/mists are created to kill the adult mosquitoes.

Mosquito Traps to control adult mosquitoes:

Cannon Pest Management also provides various kinds on indoor as well as outdoor mosquito traps which provide 24 X 7 protection from mosquitoes. Outdoor mosquito traps work on pheromone which mimics human body on trap mosquitoes when they come in contact of these traps.
